Voltage spike caused my Bobcat 553 Interlock to go haywire

A few days back, my Bobcat 553's interlock system started acting weird. It wouldn't lock at idle, but once I revved it, the voltmeter crept past 16V...eventually hitting 18V, that's when the interlock lights started flashing, and everything locked up. I cleaned all the usual sensors and switches, but the issue stayed. I am starting to think it's a bad alternator or voltage regulator

@Hilmayas_ You're spot on! That 16-18V spike and interlock freakout is classic overcharging, almost certainly from a bad alternator/voltage regulator.

The interlock system faults out because of the dangerously high voltage. Stop running it at those voltages to prevent frying your battery and other electronics. Your diagnosis is likely correct.

Nothing yet, been caught up lately

WHile you're checking, you might want to check the battery as well. I've seen oil and tired batteries fooling the alternator to overcharge. I've only seen it once, but better be safe than sorry.
